Fad Vs. Fashion - Read This Before You Go On The Next Shopping Spree

So guys, let’s talk about this topic which cannot be over-emphasized; FASHION!

I know we wanna follow the trends and all but hey, the fad soon gets an E in front of it and in no time FADES away so guys, while you wanna rock with the FADS, keep the classics more alive and remain in FASHION!
So what’s the difference between FAD and FASHION?
FAD is a kind of fashion which stays for a very short period. A Fad is always to the extreme, mostly a piece that is very expressive and loud. A fad comes with a big bang and all of a sudden, no one hears about it again. It penetrates the industry fast, gains ground and then becomes a No-go area again.

Fashion is always present, though it keeps improving and changing depending on the comfort, the industry and the textile used.  Aso Oke, Ankara, Adire, Cocktail dresses, gowns, Button down shirts, suits and all classic wears will always be in vogue though revolving but they will always be Fashionable because they are Fashion.

Not everyone can cope with the extreme enthusiasm of a Fad and even those that can will soon get tired of it and desire another.

Fads always have a definite start and finish and once they are no longer in vogue, people lose their appeal for them and because of the characteristics of Fads, they never really evolve into long term fashions.

Fads come with a big bang and just at the snap of your finger, they are gone! No one hears about it again and if you probably try it, you’ll be seen as old school; errm, I’m sure you don’t want that! Lol. Remember the days we tied the Bandana scarf or the days of color blocking of outfits when you can count up to seven obvious colours on just one person, how about our beloved multicolored rubber slippers that every girl wanted to own then because it was" Fadonable"

But do you know that you can still effortlessly put on an Ankara any time any day, or a court shoe, or Aso Oke; even a button down shirt, any Classic (Fashion) rocks even if you have them for over a decade.

I know it’s cool to follow the trend and flow with the fad in vogue but remember, while you shop for Fads, shop harder for the Classics (that’s Fashion) because they are timeless and does not fade.
